RESEARCH OVERVIEW
Past, future and ongoing projects
IMPROV Sessions are short term collaborations with the aim of connecting local film artists to artists in various fields like sound art, poetry/spoken word, theatre and dance. At the end of each Improv Session the collaboration will have a stage through a joint performance during a live event at WORM.

SPECTRAL is a four-year collaboration between six artist-run film labs with a DIY philosophy and a focus on analog film. The project includes artist residencies, workshops, the creation of hybrid film equipment, and expanded events.
PROJECTS OVERVIEW
IMPROV sessions #4 - #5
SPECTRAL Improv session #4 and #5, members of the Filmwekplaats with dzum, Tes Damen and Valentina Vella

Sunday 19 October, 18.00-19.30, WORM UBIK

Participating artists:

dzum: Electronic soundscapes, dark drones, small acoustic instruments and things that almost sound like songs. dzum is a four-letter word, and dzum believes in the power of simplicity, of language, the voice and intuitive moves.

Tes Damen (solo) is the sonic output and occasional live appearances of Dan Fogarty. A mix of studio experiments, noise, prog, effects pedals and incidental drums. A blend of swelling, dynamic, immersive and scrappy, never sitting too long in one mode.

Valentina Vella is an Italian/US interdisciplinary artist living in Rotterdam. Her work investigates how environments and infrastructures—with a particular focus on water systems—choreograph emotion, attention, and relational life. Fieldwork, improvisation, voice research and Zen-grounded practices shape both process and presentation. Her work has been presented internationally, including at Links Hall (Chicago), Kunstinstituut Melly and WORM (Rotterdam), and La Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna (Rome). Her current trajectory, A Poetics of Infrastructure: Expanding School of Love and Chaos, develops across performances, an autofictional novel, and moving-image work, and is supported by CBK Rotterdam.
